Harmoniflute (Lap Organ)

This is a harmoniflute or lap organ, not labelled but almost certainly made by Buisson at some time around the 1880s. The notes all work but the bellows would appear to have some slight leaks. The keys sit rather unevenly and some have been replaced at a later date. One of the edges of the front panel also looks like a repair. There is a small engraved plate on the top above the keyboard, but the wording on it is too worn for me to read. Below are some pictures of the reed block inside. The carved wooden section collapses inside when not in use for greater portability. Dimensions when closed are 18¼ inches x 6¼ inches x 9½ inches (including keyboard). Please note: this lap organ has one-way bellows, as in the manner of some contemporary larger concertinas. The bellows blow on the push and there is a valve to enable them to be pulled open quickly for another push. This procedure does not work efficiently at the moment but a good overhaul should sort the problem out.
