An Italian bowl backed mandolin labelled Pietro Ruffini, Brescia, Italy. It has a tortoise shell-like scratch plate and mother of pearl decoration around the sound hole. The ribs on the back show small signs of repair, and the bridge is probably a replacement although a good one. It has new strings and is in playing order with a good low action.
