This washboard has no insert in the top panel, in other words it's straight through. The business part of it is rippled metal ona flat (ie not bow-fronted) surface, with wooden panels behind. These panels move a bit but the board is not unstable. 12¾" (main body width) x 21¾" (including legs of 3½")
